I don't usually/haven't taken many portraits, I don't know why, I guess i'm just not either used to them or somewhere deep down I prefer the natural environment and conceptual images. Things that don't move are much easier to picture.
This was taken on the Isle of Skye a few days before my 24th birthday. A group of my friends and myself went to celebrate new year on this Socttish Island, this day we went walking up Sgurr nan Gillean, it was icy cold, despite the warm look in the picture. The top was covered in hoar frost and was as sharp as a knife edge with big drops on each side, we all got up and down though ok with a few hairy moments here and there. This picture reminds me of the happy times with friends, when you all go out and do something together, in this case mtn walking, and then back to the pub to fall asleep in your pint and talk b*llocks. But its all alright and no one cares because you're with your mates
